Adding words
Type into the box at the top of Kotiko's toolbar popup, Add a word, any language, and press Enter. The box clears at once; the line under it shows the result a moment later, with Undo.
What you can type
Section titled “What you can type”| You type | What happens |
|---|---|
perro = dog |
Saved as you wrote it, with no lookup. Works without any AI service. |
спасибо (spasibo) = thanks |
The same, with a romanization. |
shukran, xie xie, sobaka |
Spelling it the way it sounds is fine; the AI works out the word and language. |
how do you say dog in Japanese |
Finds 犬 (inu). Ask in your own language. |
da in Serbian |
Name the language when a word could be several. |
Any language works, and a new language starts the moment you add its first word. When you don't name a language and a word could be several, Kotiko assumes the one you've been adding lately. The Language of the word menu next to the box sets it for the next word.
Words are saved in their dictionary form, so "houses" becomes the word for "house". You're learning to recognise the word first.
Without an AI service
Section titled “Without an AI service”Words you type as word = meaning never need a lookup. A word you type on its own waits until
you set up word lookups, then Kotiko looks it up by itself.
When something goes wrong
Section titled “When something goes wrong”The line under the box says what happened, in plain words. See Messages and what to do.
