Your data

Your words live in your browser unless you connect your own server. Open your word list (Open your words in the toolbar popup), then Settings, Your data.

  • Export backup (JSON) saves one file with every word, to keep or to restore later. Tick Include settings to keep those too. Your AI key and your server's access key are never in it.
  • Import a backup… shows what the file holds (new words, words to merge, words you changed since) before anything changes. Words you changed since the backup are kept.
  • Remind me to back up makes the toolbar popup remind you once a month while your words are only in this browser.
  • Spreadsheet (CSV) exports all words, or only the ones your current filter shows.
  • Anki cards exports a deck per language for Anki. In Anki: File, Import, choose the file. Importing a newer file updates the same cards.
  • Delete one word from your word list, or with Undo right after adding it.
  • Delete everything… removes your words, settings, keys and caches from this browser. It offers to download a backup first. Tick the boxes to also delete the words on your Kotiko server, and the settings your other browsers share through browser sync.
  • Uninstalling Kotiko removes everything it keeps in this browser, except settings stored in your browser account by sync.

Kotiko can't delete what an AI service already received; that service's own policy applies.
