Adding a list of words
To add many words at once, for example a list a teacher handed out, open your word list (Open your words in the toolbar popup) and select Add words. The welcome page's "Have a list already?" link opens the same place.
- Paste the list, one word per line, or drop a
.txt,.csv,.tsvor.jsonfile (up to 5 MB). Each line can be:gato = catorperro - dog: a word and its meaning;спасибо (spasibo) = thanks: with a romanization;mariposa: just the word, for Kotiko to look up.
- Check the table. Kotiko guesses which column is the word and which the meaning; select a column's heading to change it, or Swap them. Choose the language you're Learning and the language the Meanings in are in.
- Untick any word you don't want. Lines marked Needs a meaning or Kotiko will find the word are looked up after saving, if you have a word lookup service.
- Select Add … words.
You can add up to 5,000 words at a time. Words you already have are merged, not added twice.
Kotiko never supplies word lists of its own: every word is one you chose.
